Beyoncé tells fans (and Taylor Swift) to 'laugh and dance' at Renaissance premiere

Beyoncé wowed fans at the London premiere of her Renaissance tour film, telling them to “dance, sing, laugh and cry” during the showing. The star appeared at the event dressed in a white suit and urged the audience to “feel free to feel”. Fellow musician Taylor Swift also attended the premiere, as did Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy and other celebrities including musician will.i.am, actress Vivica A. Fox, and Destiny’s Child star Michelle Williams.

The three-hour documentary showcases footage from every date of the tour, which became the highest-grossing tour ever by a black artist and the eighth-highest-grossing tour of all time. Fans get to experience the hits, including Crazy In Love and Drunk In Love, and witness Beyoncé’s creative struggles, the impact of knee surgery, and how her daughter losing a tooth took precedence over anything that happens on stage. The film captures every angle of the meticulously-choreographed concert and features hundreds of costume changes.

The backstage footage is just as stimulating, including a touching sequence about Beyoncé’s uncle Johnny, who died near the start of her career from an Aids-related illness. Johnny, a black, gay man who designed Beyoncé’s first ever stage costumes, helped her mother, Tina Knowles, raise her children and his love of house music influenced the disco grooves of the Renaissance album and tour. Beyoncé dedicated the film to his memory, telling the audience in London that she was proud it was premiering on World Aids Day on December 1.

Shot in 10 different countries, the Renaissance tour film offers fans exclusive access to one of the biggest tours in music history. Beyoncé’s electrifying performance, her show-stopping costumes, and the candid moments that happen away from the spotlight all contribute to a film that is a must-see for any fan
