Amsterdam’s De School announces its final line-ups

De School, an Amsterdam-based nightclub, has published its final monthly lineup. After its lease runs out in January 2024, the venue will be closed for good. The last month’s schedule features various events, including an Amsterdub weekender, a Femme Bass Mafia-themed night, a Timedance takeover, and four between-party events. Rest of the month will feature  Aleksi Perälä, dBridge, DVS1, Ehua, Call Super, Move D, Peach, Rrose, Sally C, and Shy One. The venue has a 24-hour license and is open seven days a week. The 700-capacity nightclub was established in 2016, having been previously converted from a technical school to a nightclub, concert hall, restaurant, cafe, gym, and exhibition space, with its programming widely praised for its spotlighting of local DJs.

De School closed back in 2020 in the wake of the COVID pandemic and allegations of racial injustice and sexual misconduct. In response, the club held a live broadcast from the venue featuring Jochem Dornbusch (the owner) and members of the senior club staff participating in the “Taking Responsibility” panel discussion, moderated by Souhayla Ou-Omar.

In response to the aforementioned allegations, the venue updated its code of conduct before its reopening weekend in August 2022, stating, “we do not condone aggression, assault, discrimination, exclusion, harassment, and/or physical or verbal violence such as (but not limited to)” albeism, antisemitism, bodyshaming, bullying, intimidation, islamophobia, racism, queerphobia, sexism, sexual misconduct and/or transphobia.” The final New Year’s parties at the club for this year remains, as of yet, unannounced.
