P. Diddy is now facing two additional lawsuits after settling a major lawsuit with his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, who accused him of physical abuse, rape, and sex trafficking earlier this month. These new lawsuits came from two different women who claimed that P. Diddy had been involved in rape, sex trafficking, battery, and revenge porn among other claims from incidents that happened in the 1990s. Both women filed lawsuits under New York’s Adult Survivors Act.
The first woman, Joi Dickerson-Neal, accused P. Diddy (real name Sean Combs) of creating and distributing revenge porn, physical assault and battery, sex trafficking, and gender-motivated violence, as well as intentional infliction of emotional distress in a lawsuit filed at New York’s Supreme Court. The incident happened when she was studying at Syracuse University in 1991, when P. Diddy allegedly drugged and raped her. The rapper secretly filmed himself sexually assaulting her and distributed the footage without her consent.
Joi Dickerson-Neal suffered severe depression and suicide ideation and was hospitalized as a result of the incident. She was left with feelings of humiliation, embarrassment, and violation. The third woman to join the lawsuit and anonymously known as Jane Doe claimed that she was coerced into having sex with the rapper and was forced to have sex with Aaron Hall, a friend of P. Diddy, who assaulted both her and a friend.
The lawsuits were strongly denied by P. Diddy, who was accused of making fabricated claims falsely alleging misconduct from over 30 years ago and filed at the last minute. The rapper’s spokesperson accused anonymous accusers of lying without conscience or consequence for financial benefit. In addition, the New York Adult Survivors Act was used as legislation that allowed alleged victims of sexual offenses to file lawsuits for a one-year period since November 24 last year until November 24 this year. The legislation has recorded over 3,700 legal claims, including those of high profile musicians such as Jamie Foxx, Steven Tyler and Axl Rose.
