Doctor Jeep, also known as Andre Lira, has released his latest EP, ‘Machine Learning’, with Nerve Collect. The record is a fusion of global rhythms and intricate electronic beats, incorporating a range of styles to create a dancefloor-focused release indicative of Lira’s artistry. The six-track EP, ‘Machine Learning’, encompasses everything from drum ‘n’ bass to techno and electro, presenting a wide-ranging musical journey through grime and dancehall-infused rave music.
Mixmag spoke with Lira about the inspiration behind ‘Machine Learning’, and how Identified Patient and Gamma Intel influenced its creation. Lira mentioned that he was surprised and humbled when Job and Laurens from the duo asked him for tracks back in January, as he had always been a big fan of their work. After sending over a long playlist of demos, Lira had a sudden moment of inspiration in March, which led him to create three tracks in succession, including ‘Machine Learning’, ‘Mad T’, and ‘Shake the Club’. Lira completed each track in just a few short hours at his day job, noting that they were some of his favorites of his career.
The EP has already received significant airplay over the summer, with both ‘Machine Learning’ and ‘Mad T’ circulating widely in the festival circuit and beyond. ‘Machine Learning’ is available now on Bandcamp and is a worthy addition to any playlist for those who appreciate genre-blending, seamless productions.
Mixmag’s Weekend Editor, Niamh Ingram, spoke with Lira about the release, and you can follow her for further updates in the world of electronic music. Additionally, Doctor Jeep recently announced his forthcoming EP, ‘Push The Body’, which is sure to showcase Lira’s skills even further
