A man has died following a police shooting in Dagenham, east London. Officers were called to Weston Green at 8 pm on 18th November after a man told Met Police he was in possession of loaded firearms and intended to harm himself. The incident was brought to a tragic conclusion when firearms officers shot the man at approximately 9 pm.
An investigation is currently underway, and the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been informed. The Metropolitan Police Service stated that a specialist negotiator made efforts to resolve the incident safely. CPR and first aid were administered to the man by officers and paramedics, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to reports, a non-police firearm was discovered by officers at the scene. Formal identification of the deceased man has yet to be made, but his next of kin has been informed. “My thoughts are with the loved ones of the man who has died,” said Cdr Kyle Gordon.
