Russell Brand, the British comedian and actor, has been questioned by the Metropolitan Police regarding allegations of historical sex offences. The investigation, which was carried out by The Times, Sunday Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches, revealed claims of rape, sexual assaults, and emotional abuse against Brand. The actor has rejected these allegations.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a man in his 40s attended a south London police station on November 16th in response to the allegations, as reported by The Times newspaper. Police state that the man was interviewed under caution in relation to three non-recent sexual offences. The investigation is still ongoing.
In September, the Metropolitan Police said they would investigate allegations of non-recent sexual offences made against Brand. The allegations date back to between 2006 and 2013 with multiple allegations made against the actor. The investigation claimed that he had behaved inappropriately at work and exhibited predatory and controlling behaviour. Brand held several jobs during this period, including roles at Channel 4 and BBC Radio 2.
Brand has yet to comment on the latest developments, however, he has previously denied any wrongdoing, asserting that his relationships have always been consensual.
