New TikTok feature allows you to save songs directly to Spotify, Apple Music and more

TikTok has revealed a new feature that enables users to add songs directly to popular streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. With the feature, users can add songs from their favourite videos to their preferred streaming service by clicking “Add Song” at the bottom of the screen. The platform has teamed up with the streaming services to pull together the new feature, which instantly adds the chosen song to a playlist or list of saved songs.

Spotify users in the UK and US will be able to save songs to their “Liked Songs” playlist. Spotify claims that other markets will be supported as the feature develops. Apple Music offers a similar tool for creating playlists, while Amazon Music is only available to Prime members and Amazon Music Unlimited customers, according to TechCrunch.

The feature requires both the TikTok app and the preferred streaming service to be updated to the latest version, while Apple Music users must also have a paid subscription. By selecting “Add to Music App,” the feature creates a link between discovery on TikTok and consumption on a streaming service, making it easier for fans to listen to the full-length version of the song they discovered on TikTok.

TikTok’s Global Head of Music Business Development, Ole Obermann, said, “TikTok is already the world’s most powerful platform for music discovery and promotion, which helps artists connect with our global community to drive engagement with their music. Add to Music App takes this process a step further, creating a direct link between discovery on TikTok and consumption on a music streaming service, making it easier than ever for music fans to enjoy the full-length song on the music streaming service of their choice, thereby generating even greater value for artists and rightsholders.”

Overall, the new feature is available to all TikTok users and is a massive boost for streaming companies such as Spotify and Apple Music, as the companies will now have their libraries exposed to millions of users who may not have previously subscribed to their services
