A tragic incident occurred in west London where five members of a family, including three children, lost their lives in a house fire. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) discovered their bodies on the first floor of a terraced house located in Channel Close, Hounslow, where responders were called to the scene last Sunday evening. It remains unclear as to what caused the fire, although the fire service confirmed they are keeping an “open mind”.
One person still remains unaccounted for, with another individual being taken to hospital. Police and firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire in a bid to provide answers to the affected families and the community. Ch Supt Sean Wilson offered his support to those in the area suffering from “overwhelming sadness” and pain due to the terrible loss of life.
Residents in the area informed the authorities that they saw a lot of smoke around the time of the fire, but many fireworks were also set off for Diwali. However, the deputy fire commissioner has confirmed that it is too early in the investigation to determine whether the fire was started due to fireworks or candles. The firefighters who arrived at the scene reported that they faced a “significant blaze” on the ground and first floor.
It is still unknown what led to this heartbreaking incident, but the investigation continues. London Fire commissioner Andy Roe offered condolences to the families of the deceased individuals and confirmed that staff would be in the community to provide support and advice. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no arrests have been made thus far
