Edinburgh-based record label, Neptune Discs, has announced its new compilation, set for release on December 8th. Embodied with sounds of 90s house and trance, the compilation features works from various artists such as Maze, Cybernet, Aiden Francis, and Laars contributing their own sound to produce a cohesive final record. Each of the tracks starts with meditative progressive house and trance loops and rhythms and moves towards a peak-time crescendo from Cybernet before immersing the senses into rolling cuts of deep house. “Chug,” on the other hand, is a sample from the forthcoming release, where Francis explains: “Taking on darker, slower sonic realms, ‘Chug’ finds itself barraging through the mist at a deceiving pace with thickness, squelch and a tasteful amount of groove.”
Maze adds: “‘Don’t Rush, You’re Already Here’ is my fourth track released to the world, despite having been around the DJ block… It took me a while to figure out you don’t have to go hard to get high, but Neptune Discs seemed to materialize that way. Thanks to those at the label for welcoming my soft deep sea diver alongside such astral beings as Aiden Francis, Cybernet, and Laars.” The four-year-old digital-only label has been growing steadily and label head Astro says, “In a time where vinyl releases are so prevalent, it’s increasingly humbling to be entrusted with the music of such talented artists for digital-only releases.”
Astro runs Neptune Discs while juggling between booking artists like Helena Hauff, Courtesy, and Pearson Sound for Edinburgh party night First Edition, and producing/djing under his project “Astro.” By working with some amazing artists, Astro has watched Neptune Discs grow and says “Who knows, maybe we will be bringing some 12” discs in the near future.” Neptune Discs’s latest VA is now available to pre-order
