Police have launched a murder investigation following a stabbing in West Yorkshire after Alfie Lewis, 15, died in hospital. West Yorkshire police were called just before 15:00 GMT to Town Street, Horsforth which is located near St Margaret’s Primary School. The police arrested a teenage boy on Tuesday in connection with the incident.
Tributes have been left at the scene and floral tributes left in front of a bench at the site were arranged to spell out Alfie’s name. A special service was held at the nearby St Margaret’s Church and a fundraising page has been set up for the victim’s family, which has already raised more than £7,000 in 12 hours.
The head of Horsforth School, Paul Bell, said that the school is in shock after the incident, adding that the community will rally together to support one another at this difficult time. The school is working with the council and other agencies to help support students and staff.
