Afro house DJ Kitty Amor is introducing her own record label, Mahaba Music, releasing its first single “Solitude” on November 17. Mahaba is a platform for ground-breaking music, providing both worldwide and underground artists a place to showcase their sound. It marks the latest step in the career of the Afro house pioneer who has recently become the main character of the documentary “Who’s Kitty Amor?,” released by Defected Records in September.
Solitude’s sound is a combination of synth-heavy melodies with an emotive top line that proclaims Mahaba’s message of love and care that is infused within the label. This initial outing from Mahaba has created anticipation of what is to come from future releases and its roster of artists.
Kitty Amor is taking her role as a tastemaker and producer and creating a home for her and other rising musicians to showcase their musical talents in “sonically connecting the world.” Mahaba Music is a symbolic expression of the culture and passion Kitty has for the worldwide sound and to avoid feeling boxed into a particular category.
Starting in 2024, Kitty’s monthly Rinse FM residency will expand with an extended show for two hours on the first Sunday of every month, highlighting the sound of Mahaba Music. For more details on Mahaba Music, check out its Instagram
