Kate Bush’s full back catalogue is to be reissued as physical releases along with redesigned artwork. The reissues will be available to purchase beginning December 1 and will be distributed in an “unlimited run” according to Bush’s record label, FISH PEOPLE. A donation will be made to War Child, in association with each sale of the exquisite records. Other studio albums which are due for reissuing include her debut, ‘The Kick Inside’, along with ‘Never for Ever’, ‘The Dreaming’, ‘The Red Shoes’ and others.
The reissues of Bush’s back catalogue will feature two extra redesigns of 1985’s ‘Hounds Of Love’ across three reissued copies, also featuring remastered audio. The first copy uses the original artwork and a purple-tinted record, each individually colored. The ‘Baskerville Edition’ features newly illustrated artwork with a solar-powered LED light, while ‘The Boxes of Lost at Sea’ comes accompanied with two boxes with individual battery-powered LED lights.
Bush, whose records became available to stream this year, said: “The idea was to create a hybrid of an album and a piece of artwork you could hang on the wall. They’re based on something I designed for an auction for the charity War Child.” She goes on to say that: “There’s a special emotional connection that happens between the possessor of an album, the music, and the artwork when it exists in the real world. It’s something we can treasure in a unique way.”
The new versions, including the colored vinyl for independent record stores is great fun, she added. “A great deal of care and thought has gone into them,” she said.
Bush has recently made headlines for having broken three Guinness World Records with ‘Running Up That Hill’. The reissue announcement comes just ahead of Kate Bush’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 3.
