The family of Jamie Tiller, the late DJ, producer and co-founder of Music from Memory, has received support through a GoFundMe campaign. Tiller’s wife, Tasya, and six-year-old son, Max, live in Berlin, where unexpected expenses including travel fees, an immigration lawyer and costs of raising Max alone have arisen. Tiller’s Ukrainian wife is required to obtain a VISA to enter the UK, where her son holds citizenship. The fundraiser aims to ease the consequent costs and provide for the young boy’s future.
Jen Harris and Tiller’s mother, Chrissie Tiller, initiated the fundraiser. Friend Harris describes Tiller as “an absolute inspiration and amazing friend” who leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire people worldwide. Music from Memory, founded in 2013 by Tiller and Tako Reyenga, finds artists that have been overlooked and strives to reissue under-appreciated music from the past, as well as showcase original material. This mindset also characterised Tiller’s performances as a DJ, which took him all over the world.
The GoFundMe campaign has been successful, having raised over €34,000 in just four days, nearing its target of €35,000. The amount raised reflects the number of people touched by Tiller through his work, producers, his art and his role as a family member and friend. Donations will be used to cover the family’s expenses, support the young boy’s future, and ease the “cruel and costly process”.
