Emily Eavis, co-organiser of the Glastonbury Festival with her father Michael, has recently revealed that she was offered a “really big American artist” and is hoping to book two female headliners for next year’s festival. Although she did not reveal the identity of the performer, she stated that the 2023 “legend slot” has already been filled by a female act, and next year’s festival may also have two female headliners. The announcement was made during a recent episode of the BBC podcast Sidetracked.
Eavis discussed the booking process in the interview, stating that agents or managers contact her and ask if she is interested in booking a particular artist. Although headliners for next year’s show are normally booked by this time, the 2024 headliners are still unknown, she said.
Madonna’s name came up in the interview after Eavis had seen her show at the O2 Arena in London and called it “incredible.” Although Eavis has said that Madonna has always been at the top of her preferred artist list, she did not suggest that the performer was the person she referred to when mentioning the “really big American artist.”
The bookmakers’ favourites include Madonna, Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Dave, The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo, Foo Fighters, Oasis, Rihanna and Spice Girls. However, there is no concrete news on who the mystery headliners will be. Eavis intends to announce the full lineup at the beginning of next year, with tickets going on sale for £360 in November
