Berlin-based artist horsegiirL, known for her viral track ‘My Barn My Rules’ with MCR-T, has released a new single and announced a new event series. ‘f0rbiidden l0ve$tory’ plays on the lyrics of Avril Lavigne’s ‘Sk8er Boi’, with Stella singing “He was a boy, she was a horse / Can that make it any more difficult”. When asked about the inspiration behind the track, Stella responded with a riddle, suggesting that it could be “the story of two lovers, who had no one believe in their love but themselves. Maybe it is the story of my parents”.
The new event series, hayfever, will launch at London’s The Cause on November 3, where horsegiirL will be supported by some of her “farmyard friends”. Stella stated that The Cause has promised to “equip all [her] barn needs like hay, cattle, green grass and carrots” to ensure the event will be an enjoyable experience for attendees.
Earlier this year, horsegiirL provided Mixmag with an exclusive mix alongside MCR-T, which was played at her home of Sunshine Farms. ‘f0rbiidden l0ve$tory’ is now available to stream, and tickets for hayfever can be found on RA.
Becky Buckle, Multimedia Editor for Mixmag, interviewed Stella, who explained how she channels her “inner animal” when DJing. “I definitely feel at one with myself and the music when I DJ. I lose sense of time, which gets me excited. I love getting feedback from the crowd, it’s like asking my herd how I’m doing.
