A TikTok influencer and British model, Modou Adams, has been sentenced to almost seven years in a Peruvian prison after attempting to smuggle 2.9kg (6.4lb) of cocaine out of the country. Adams was stopped by authorities at Jorge Chávez International Airport on September 30th with the cocaine concealed in his suitcase, according to a statement from Peru’s Supreme Court released via Twitter. The statement also revealed that Adams had coordinated the shipment of about 3kg of cocaine to London.

The 25-year-old was found guilty of drug trafficking charges and sentenced to six years and eight months in prison. Adams admitted the charges against him and was also fined. The drugs were destined for the United Kingdom, according to a statement from the Superior Court of Justice of Callao.

Adams had previously posted photos on his social media accounts from Machu Picchu, a popular tourist destination in Peru on the Inca Trail. Local media quoted anti-drug prosecutor Lincoln Fuentes as saying that it wasn’t the first time Adams had attempted to transport drugs out of Peru.
