After three years of musical silence, La Fleur has returned with a bang to announce her debut album, entitled ‘Väsen’. To accompany the news, the Swedish artist has also released a double A-side, ‘Chian/Slowdive’, which is an emotive blend of both house and techno music. This upbeat and positive release features catchy hooks, intertwining percussives and melodies throughout the entire track to deliver an excellent listening experience.
After celebrating the 10th anniversary of her imprint, Power Plant, La Fleur took a break and moved back to her homeland from Berlin. During this hiatus, she concentrated on her career as a pharmaceutical professional, becoming a managing lead of staff at Stockholm hospitals. “That time made me ponder on the kind of music I wanted to be associated with. I had an album ready in 2020, but I’ve always drawn inspiration from changing elements in my life. It’s only now I feel ready to debut these new tracks,” she explains.
The opening track on her debut album, ‘Chian’, has an upbeat and funky feeling, with chunky synthesizer riffs and soulful vocal arrangements with trance-like arpeggios and chimes layering on top. On the other hand, ‘Slowdive’ is a faster-paced track, with higher pitched arpeggios and a swooning synth delivering a dreamy feeling throughout. La Fleur herself explained that she wants “Chian to invite us all to dance”, whilst hoping “Slowdive will evoke a feeling of her connection with her audience”.
Further details regarding ‘Väsen’ are still encased in mystery. However, we can enjoy both tracks from La Fleur’s ‘Chian/Slowdive’ single here, whilst admiring her comeback after a three-year break
