Lady Leshurr, whose real name is Melesha O’Garro, has appeared in Snaresbrook Crown Court for allegedly attacking her ex-girlfriend and her then-partner. The rapper is accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Sidnee Hussein, and Hussein’s partner at the time, Chante Boyea. Alongside co-defendant Sherelle Smith, O’Garro was charged last year with assault after police responded to the fight in Walthamstow, East London.
At the court, Boyea disclosed how O’Garro, alongside Smith, waited outside Hussein’s house before the attack. Boyea was driving to work when two women flagged down her car, appearing to need help. As she went to give help, O’Garro allegedly ran towards her, quickly throwing punches, some of which hit her, followed by biting her on the hand, resulting in nerve damage.
According to prosecutor Polly Dyer, O’Garro explained in her interview with the police that Hussein and Boyea owned a dog which Boyea was directing to get her. O’Garro alleges the dog bit her and that she was also punched in the head and stamped on by Boyea, according to Dyer. O’Garro has denied biting Boyea, and according to Dyer, both defendants lied during their police interviews, with their accounts not explaining the injuries of the complainants.
Lady Leshurr is best known for her freestyle series ‘Queen’s Speech’ and has hosted her show on BBC Radio 1Xtra. She is a previous MOBO award winner for Best Female Act. The trial is ongoing
