Music from Memory founder Jamie Tiller has died

Jamie Tiller, a DJ, producer, and founder of Music From Memory, has tragically passed away. According to a statement by label partners Boris Van Der Hoff, Nick Verbakel, and Tako Reyenga, Tiller died following a tragic accident on October 15th. The music community has mourned the death of Tiller who dedicated himself to unearthing underrecognized electronic music from all genres.

Music From Memory became a mainstay for music fans on the hunt for forgotten treasures. Tiller was known for his reputation as an eclectic DJ and his approach to curating obscure music. Together with Tako Reyenga, Tiller first established Music From Memory in 2013 while living in Amsterdam and pledged to focus as much on reissuing music from the past as on more modern releases.

Initially, Tiller’s work was centered around Redlight Records, a record store in Amsterdam, where he worked as a buyer. Shortly thereafter, he tackled much of the label’s operations while Reyenga handled the label’s financing. In 2014, the two started sister imprint Second Circle, which became a home for their own productions and other genre-bending music.

Tiller’s music will continue to inspire people worldwide, and his legacy will keep in touch with them. Tributes poured in for Tiller, and “more details regarding a farewell and celebration of Jamie’s life and legacy,” will be released in the coming days, as suggested by label partners in their tribute.
