Yamaha releases new keyboard Montage M

Yamaha, the audio equipment leading brand, has recently launched a new version of its well-received Montage workstation. The Montage M comes in three options (M8x, M7 and M6) and features a new AN-X engine, described as a “revolution in authentic analog sound, control and behaviour”. According to the brand, the AN-X engine offers vintage analog synthesizer warmth whilst incorporating modern and advanced modulation.

The M8x, M7 and M6 vary in size, providing 88, 76 and 61 keys, respectively. All options come with three audio engines, motion control, computer connectivity and integration, delivering a seamless bridge between stage and studio workflows.

Some of the keyboard’s features include three oscillators with five waveforms and a noise generator, two filters, pulse width modulation, oscillator self sync, ring modulation, FM and wave shaper, amp EG with drive, LFOs, voltage drift emulation, and ageing settings, which simulate vintage synth behaviour.

The new Montage boasts an extra 144 notes of polyphony and twice the overall memory of the previous model, along with new performance controls, such as polyphonic aftertouch, five-segment ribbon controller with a dedicated hold button, keyboard hold button for chord sustaining, and an on/off button for portamento with a dedicated time knob.

Yamaha claims that its new keyboard significantly improves the creative process and workflow with the expanded softsynth plugin replicating the Montage M in digital audio workstations such as Ableton, FL Studio, and Logic. In support of its recent launch, Yamaha has included keyboard craftsmen such as Greg Phillinganes, Matt Johnson, Manuele Montesanti and Pontus Persson to test out their latest offering.

The Montage M is available through selected Yamaha dealers which can be located using their Dealer Locator portal
