British teen missing in Hamas attack confirmed dead, family say

Tragedy has struck the family of a British woman, Lianne, after she was killed by Hamas militants in Kibbutz Be’eri. Lianne had relocated to Israel from the UK where she had originally moved to as a volunteer when she was just 19 years old. She was killed on 7 October after militants attacked southern Israel. Her family has confirmed that her 13-year-old daughter Yahel was also murdered. Yahel’s 16-year-old sister Noiya and Israeli father Eli are still missing.

Relatives have described Yahel as “full of adventure and mischief” and have spoken of their heartbreak at her loss. British relatives of Lianne spoke of the joy that the sisters displayed when they opened their presents.

The chaos that hit the community was caught in WhatsApp messages sent by Lianne describing that she could hear gunfire and shouting in Arabic in close proximity. The group of relatives caught up in the attack feared for their lives, taking seven hours before they could advise of the extent of the attack.
