Luke Slater and Dubfire team up to share hypnotic EP ‘The Dissent’

Luke Slater, the English electronic musician, and Dubfire, the Iranian-American DJ and producer, have collaborated on a new EP titled ‘The Dissent’. The record features three techno tracks that incorporate interwoven, dubbed-out sounds. The opening track, which shares the same name as the EP, consists of an uneasy atmosphere and ominous synths and creates a hypnotic effect. ‘The Sonic Assassin’, the second track on the record, features shaking hats and distortion that combine to form a hearty crescendo.

The final track, ‘The Drama’, incorporates wonky vocals that contribute to the tripped-out effect alongside a dreamy and psychedelic backdrop that resembles a moment from an early-morning dancefloor. Slater shared his thoughts on Dubfire, who he calls a legend, “Ali [Dubfire] is such a legend and has an immense history. We initially met in Washington a couple of years ago and he was really into remixing ‘Rip the Cut’; after that, we got talking about a collab. I feel honored working with him, and the process had a natural flow to it which always shows in the final music I think.”

The EP is currently available, and you can listen to it here. The Dissent is Slater’s latest offering, available via his record label, L.B. Dub Corp. Slater began releasing music in 1990 and has since released music under different titles like 7th Plain, The Machine, and LSD. Dubfire has been in the electronic dance music industry since the 1990s and has also worked under different names like Deep Dish. Together, the two veteran producers created a techno masterpiece that will undoubtedly go down in music history
