Anastasia Kristensen, a DJ and producer based in Copenhagen, has released new music under her new label called “absorb emit.” The first single from this label is ‘Cordyceps Disco’, and it is a track from a four-part EP that will be released on November 14. The track involves AI vocals and textured samples made from scratch to provide Kristensen with a club set within a retro-futuristic utopia. The debut will be accompanied by a music video, which showcases Kristensen’s “exotic fungi princess vibes” in the future.
This EP is released against the backdrop of the last few years’ constant anxiety and dystopia, and Kristensen’s sound design skills transport the listener into her imaginary futures. It is the result of years of reflection and disillusionment with the pandemic world. The title “Cordyceps Disco” is a reference to the brain-eating fungi found in HBO’s ‘The Last of Us.’ The producer announced that the record is the outcome of working on her mental health, surroundings, and her attitude towards people.
Anastasia Kristensen marks a new bold chapter in her career with the release of this EP under her new label. In this record, she continues her tradition of scouring sounds from multiple influences and exploring off-grid electronics. Throughout the year, the Danish artist performed in venues such as RSO, The Cause, Rex Club, and The White Hotel, and she doesn’t seem to be slowing down with the release of her latest record. She will wrap up this year with gigs in Stockholm, New York, Mexico City, and more. She is also lined up to perform at the exciting Bodies NYE party at ÆDEN.
