After a decade-long hiatus, Skream has finally dropped ‘Skreamizm Vol.8.’ The album features 11 tracks that represent his transformation as a DJ and producer, presenting a range of sounds from house, techno, grime, and dubstep. The album is an emotional rollercoaster, giving listeners a taste of various feelings from joy, euphoria, to a sense of loss and grief.
The artwork encapsulates the variety of Skream’s new sound. Skream collaborated with artist INSA, with whom he has shared a close friendship to create the kaleidoscopic artwork. Skream describes INSA as his “hero,” and he believes that his friend’s artwork has “captured the stories and the theme of it perfectly.”
Skream has worked with various vocalists for his latest project. The laid-back tones of Trim on ‘Funky Sailor,’ Bklava’s captivating vocals on ‘Weird Minimal,’ and Prospa’s beats-fueled linkup on ‘Waiheke Island.’ The booming beats of ‘Your Love,’ featuring silky vocals by Lagoon Wavey complete the exquisite vocals of the album.
The project is a poignant tribute to Skream’s close friend, Jamie Roy. In both ‘Not Ready Yet’ and ‘Roy The Boy,’ the artist bares his soul, channeling his rawest emotions through his music. ‘Skreamizm Vol.8’ is now available to stream. You can listen to the album by clicking here
