Sven Marquardt, the famous Berghain bouncer, has collaborated with denim brand G-Star RAW for a new exhibition entitled “11+1″ which was recently presented at Berlin Art Week. The exhibition comprises 12 portrait photographs, all taken by Marquardt, that capture his interpretation of Berlin’s nightlife. The exhibition’s name references guest list culture, showcasing the 11 individuals and Clara Cuvé, DJ and street-casted talent, he chose to model the unique, denim couture clothing collection created for the project.

Every outfit in the exhibition is a singular piece designed by Marquardt alongside G-Star RAW’s in-house team of designers, with the entire collection including 26 distinct pieces. From an elegant leather-look suit to an oversized chef’s hat, the collection represents Marquardt’s tribute to Berlin’s club culture and nightlife.

Gwenda van Vliet, CMO of G-Star explained how the collection embodies denim’s reputation and versatility in fashion, stating that “denim symbolizes democracy in fashion.” Reflecting the boundaries and regulations of club culture, the denim brand was established some years back, and according to the company, denim clothing serves as the ideal expression of authenticity and freedom.
