Hip hop icon Snoop Dogg has revealed that he harbours a severe phobia of horses. Speaking on his program Double G News, the rapper commented to guest Tiffany Haddish, “I’m scared of horses. To this day, Tiff. I don’t know why I’m just fucking scared of them.” The 51-year-old added that he had never even been in a scene with a horse, explaining, “I done been in a scene with ostriches, iguanas, all kinds of shit.”
Although Haddish asked whether the rap star had experienced a traumatic event with a horse at some point, Snoop could not identify any one incident. He joked that he might have been “the Headless Horseman or some motherfucking body” in a past life. The artist’s wife, Shante Broadus, once owned a horse for three years, but Snoop refused to meet the animal, stressing, “I don’t fuck with horses.”
Although Snoop is a dog lover and has long been associated with the breed, he recently made an unlikely collaboration with country musician Chris Stapleton to cover Phil Collins’ ‘In The Air Tonight’. The track will be used as new Monday Night Football theme by the NFL and features drums played by Cindy Blackman Santana. Snoop’s cover is available to hear via ESPN.
Although many people have animal phobias, equinophobia (a fear of horses) is often caused by a traumatic experience in childhood or teenage years. It can manifest as a fear of being trampled or bitten, or may be driven by a fear of enormous size, unpredictability and “wildness”
