Unmute, a brand new multi-level nightclub based in the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi, has recently opened its doors. With a capacity of up to 300 people, the nightclub, founded by Lam Dao and architecture curator Jiro Endo, occupies two separate areas: Cuốn Club Room on the fourth floor and Tan Bar on the two levels above. The Cuốn Club Room aims to host diverse musical genres and create new “sound textures” each time, with a selection of resident DJs and artists taking the lead at each event.
Located inside a 24-hour fruit and vegetable market, the club space offers a custom-designed 4-way soundsystem developed with Mark Own Audio, ensuring a balanced soundstage throughout the area. Musically, it tests out a variety of sounds based on electronic dance music, with genres ranging from house, techno, and disco.
The lineup includes talented acts such as Vietnamese artist Viet Anh, who has contributed immensely to collectives such as Studio Adventure; Anh Vy from The Observatory and the latest member of Atipik Collective, as well as the club’s founder himself, Lam Dao, and prominent modular synth designer-cum-techno producer, Quan. The club also intends to promote new sound textures that are genre-free, versatile, and dancefloor-oriented.
Unmute was introduced soft-launched in August and has swiftly filled its programming calendar until year’s end, as stated in a press release by the club explaining that “Sonically, Unmute believes that pushing boundaries can give music a true voice and deliver beautiful party experiences”.
