The Welsh countryside has once again played a starring role in the hit Netflix show, Sex Education, as fans enjoy its fourth and final season. Locations including Penarth Pier, Cwmcarn Forest Drive and St Fagans Museum have all played host to some of the show’s most iconic scenes. Here is a rundown of some of the Welsh locations featured, which may be recognizable to ardent viewers.
The Duke of Beaufort Bridge in Monmouth, a Grade II-listed structure built in the 19th century, is one new addition to the series in season four. It replaces the Old Tramway Bridge in Tintern, which was previously used for location shots.
Another new location, The Newbridge Memo in Newbridge, is a Valleys venue with Grade II and II* listed buildings. Opened in 1908, the institute is a monument to the miners who built it, while the Memorial Hall was built in 1924 as a tribute to the local servicemen of World War One.
St Fagans National Museum of History in Cardiff is used as the new sixth-form college attended by the show’s ex-Moordale High students, specifically its coach and orchard car park.
Cwmcarn Forest Drive in Caerphilly county is another location in season four. This wooded spot provides the setting for the stretch leading up to Cavendish College, a new seat of learning for some of the show’s teen characters.
Viewers may recognize Penarth seafront in the Vale of Glamorgan, where the school hall scenes are shot in The Paget Rooms. All Saints Church Hall in nearby Victoria Square doubles up for the series’ community center.
One striking property, Rhydspence House near Ross-on-Wye, featured in the show is also on sale for £1.5m. The 18th century former salmon fishing lodge, which boasts stunning views of the Wye gorge, is the home of lead character Otis and his sex therapist mum Jean.
