Moog Music releases statement after staff cuts at its headquarters

Moog Music has issued a statement after reports of layoffs among its staff in Asheville, North Carolina. The synth company confirmed that there were indeed layoffs within the production team. According to Music Tech, 30 Asheville workers reportedly lost their jobs. Rumors had surfaced that the manufacturing plant would move to Taiwan.  However, the statement confirmed that its headquarters will remain in Asheville with manufacturing support coming from overseas. Moog has faced challenges of manufacturing electronic instruments in America, necessitating the necessary changes.

Moog added that the changes are needed for the company’s future. It also asked that people keep an open mind as it puts the finishing touches on its innovative instruments. Moog Music was acquired by inMusic, a US conglomerate, in June. InMusic owns Akai, Alesis, Denon, M-Audio, Marantz, and Numark, among others. Moog became employee-owned in 2015 after opening its headquarters in Asheville in 2011. However, they were bought out in the transfer with inMusic. The statement acknowledged that it wasn’t an easy few months, and the Moog family truly appreciates the passion and care shown by the community.

Moog concluded by saying that it has a team of talented employees in Asheville who are committed to bringing the best-sounding electronic instruments in the world. The company is dedicated to developing inspiring musical instruments for its creative community
